Q&A with Fred

How do you define your role as a fiduciary?

It is my responsibility to act in the best interest of the client.

Tell me a story about a client situation.

Since we work closely with clients, CPAs, and attorneys, they tend to recommend tough client situations to see if we can help. I was fortunate to visit with one of them and within 5 minutes of our visit, he stated, “I have stage 4 cancer and I am going to die. Can you please help me understand my financial options and prepare me for this event.” Through all of our work together in advance of this event, his friends and family had quite the life celebration party that he planned in advance.

Tell me about your family.

I have been married for over 30 years to my person, Amy. Together, we have two wonderful kids, Taylor and Peyton. I also have a son-in-law, Serge. All of us have three great pups, Chance, Murphy, and Toast.

Why did you decide to work in this field?

Our owner, Chris Hicks, reached out to me to ask if I would like a career change. He stated that my background (accounting and engineering) would be helpful in the field of Financial Planning. He stated, “come help our great clients, you will love working with them…and he was right.
