Q&A with Mikki

What do you find most enjoyable about work?

First, the people. I have worked with Doug Lindsey and Michael Albillar since 2008 and we have a genuine camaraderie. When you work with people you admire and respect, it makes for a great working environment.

Second, I love solving problems and doing the research it takes to get there. Whether it’s finding cost basis or researching a discrepancy in a mountain of qualified charitable distributions, I find the process very fulfilling.

Tell me about your family

Originally from Indiana (Go Colts!) my husband, daughter, and I moved to New Mexico in 2008. My daughter, Mikalan, and grandson, Oakley, live in El Paso. Mikalan will be graduating in the spring of 2022 with a nursing degree. Oakley is the “sun of my solar system.”My husband, Tal, is a freelance illustrator and children’s book author. He also plays piano at several venues in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We have been married since 1986 and yes, we have been married so long we can finish each other’s sentences! I enjoy cooking, NFL football, and live theatre. However, reading is my passion. Among my favorite authors are David Baldacci, Karen Marie Moning (The Fever series), Janet Evanovich, and Linwood Barclay.

Biography

Mikki Burdine joined the MGM team in September of 2008 as our receptionist/office administrator. Before that, she worked in banking for 10 years as a Treasury Management Sales Associate with Bank One. While there, she earned her Certified Cash Management Credentials. She attended Indiana State University, via a theatre scholarship, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

As of April 2011, Mikki became a Registered Paraplanner™ through the College for Financial Planning and has become instrumental in the financial planning process for our clients. In October of 2020, Mikki passed her Series 65 exam and is now classified as an Investment Adviser Representative. She is licensed and insured to take trading and distribution instructions from clients.

Originally from Indiana, she has also lived in Florida and Texas while helping her husband in the ministry. Now that she lives in New Mexico, she thoroughly enjoys the high desert climate and scenery.
